27: Matters of the Heart

Merlin Miller continues the Gospel of Mark series with this 27th message, again titled Matters of the Heart and taken from Mark 7:14-23. Having addressed the root problem of authority, Jesus does not address where defilement and impurity come from. Like authority, this is a matter of the heart. Jesus continues reveal that God's kingdom is about an inside-out change rather than an outside-in one.

Merlin Miller returns to the Gospel of Mark series, with this 24th sermon titled Strength to Serve, taken from Mark 6:30-44. This is the first of 2 instances where Mark records a miraculous feeding of large crowd from just a few loaves and fish. Coming on the heels of the apostles' return from ministry and their desire to seek rest, this sermon looks at the call to serve that Jesus places on his followers and examines where our strength to serve comes from.

23: Who is Jesus?

Merlin Miller continues the Gospel of Mark series, with this 23rd sermon taken from Mark 6:14-29 and entitled Who is Jesus? Mark seems to interrupt his own story of the sending out of the apostles by recounting how the death of John the Baptist had come about. But from the text we see that everyone, all the way up to the "king", was asking the question "who is Jesus?"

22: Sent Out

Merlin Miller continues the Gospel of Mark series, with this 22nd sermon taken from Mark 6:6-13 and entitled Sent Out. Jesus faced rejection, but it did not cause him to walk away, instead we see him not only continue his own ministry, but he also sent out his disciples on their own missions of proclamation and demonstrations of God's power. The central question here revolves around authority.

21: Jesus Rejected

Merlin Miller continues the Gospel of Mark series, with this 21st sermon taken from Mark 6:1-6 and entitled Jesus Rejected. Despite Jesus' demonstration of his great power, when he comes to his own hometown, he is rejected by them. Rather than stand in accusation against those who rejected Jesus, we should examine how their rejection illuminates the humanity, and tendency to reject Jesus, that is present in all of us.

Created in His Image

Realizing that man was created in His image, we as believers should feel obligated to reflect God to others. God chose us to reflect Him, represent Him, and have a relationship with Him so that we can show the world the value of having a personal relationship with God the Father through Jesus, God the Son. Our purpose in life is to Glorify God and enjoy Him forever. This instills value and worth to every living person that is alive on God's created earth.
